Today the Denver Broncos have released linebacker Akin Ayodele. In what is being seen as a shocker from the linebacker himself. Ayodele has been the starting linebacker in the Broncos first two pre-season games. In the first two pre-season games he made eight tackles in the Broncos’ two preseason games this season, including six against the Lions on Saturday. Ayodele is one of three starting linebackers in the NFL who has played in every game since 2002. He played for Miami (2008-2009), Dallas (2006-07) and Jacksonville (2002-05) after being drafted by the Jaguars out of Purdue. He was told by the Broncos that he was released this earlier so he has a chance to sign with another team but they did not give him a direct answer to why he was released. Now the Broncos back-up linebackers will have a chance to prove themselves for that open spot.

Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton missed a third consecutive practice Friday with a sprained left ankle.
Coach Josh McDaniels said Orton’s availability for Sunday’s pivotal contest with San Diego will come down to a game-time decision.
Backup Chris Simms again took first-team practice repetitions, as he has all week in the absence of Orton, who was injured during last week’s 27-17 loss at Washington.
Simms is in line to make his first start since September 2006, when he suffered a life-threatening spleen injury while with Tampa Bay.

The Denver Broncos are a nice football team with good defense, but in the eyes of many they are no Pittsburgh Steelers. But the Broncos are trying to become the Steelers Ń a consistently elite NFL team that competes and wins Super Bowls and rarely is beaten up physically.
“It is an opportunity for us is what it is,” said Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels. “To me, it all starts with the Steelers. We are excited to get back at work, getting ready to play the defending Super Bowl champion on Monday Night Football and getting ready to play a game against a team that has very, very few, if any, weaknesses.”
After Denver’s physical beat-down in every phase of the game last week vs. the Baltimore Ravens, McDaniels and staff have done their best this week to prepare their players for the equally physical Steelers.
“We learned a lot of things about ourselves through this process the last couple days. Pittsburgh is a very physical team in every phase. If you are going to get out-physicaled offensively, defensively and in the kicking game, you are going to have a hard time winning,” McDaniels said.

Through the first few months of his rookie season, Tom Brandstater has learned plenty from Kyle Orton about the art of playing quarterback in the National Football League.
Brandstater is not, however, likely to seek automobile advice from the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback. A well-known environmentalist, Orton has ditched the high-priced vehicles and drives a Honda Insight hybrid.
“It always gives me a laugh every time I see him get out of a meeting and hop in his little fake car, as I call it,” said Brandstater, the Broncos’ third-string quarterback.
That “fake” car may not be the typical vehicle for an NFL quarterback, but it’s typical for Orton.

The first couple of weeks of the NFL season people were wondering what happened to Eddie Royal, and his premium production from 2008?
Six weeks later and after several huge games, the Denver Broncos receiver will be named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October, the NFL informed the Broncos yesterday.
It marks the first time in club history that the Broncos have had multiple AFC Special Teams Player of the Month winners in the same year with kicker Matt Prater also earning that award in September.
“Eddie is very smart and is one of the smartest receivers I have been around,” said Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels. “He is an extremely hard worker and can do many different things well.”
Royal is expected to have a press conference tomorrow at Dove Valley.

Defeat used to move Brian Dawkins to tears.
This is Dawkins the little boy from Jacksonville, Fla., we’re talking about. Even if he doesn’t cry after a loss anymore, a glimpse into Dawkins’ emotional childhood helps explain the visible passion he has brought to his 188 NFL games as a Pro Bowl safety.
“I’ve always been this way, passionate about the game,” Dawkins said. “As a kid, I would always cry after a loss. When you’re little, you’re always told to contain your emotions. Can’t show emotions.”
So Dawkins would keep his feelings pent-up until the painful heartache of defeat would be too much. The hurt would burst, and then came the tears.
Eventually, to the entertainment of his longtime fans in Philadelphia and his new followers in Denver, Dawkins found a way to release his passion. And it has to do with how, as a junior in high school, Dawkins announced he was giving his life to Jesus Christ.
He looks back now and says it was more “talk,” that it wasn’t until after his rookie season with the Philadelphia Eagles that he started to “walk,” forbidding himself from alcohol and pollutants that can ravage the body from within.
But regardless of how he restrained some behaviors, Dawkins always experienced liberation through faith. He would unload his energy in the minutes before the game with his demonstrative dances and pep talks from the football pulpit — otherwise known as the huddle.

Giving Tom Brady and the New England Patriots extra chances generally isn’t a key to success.
The suddenly stout defense of the Denver Broncos didn’t budge, however.
During Sunday’s 20-17 win over the Patriots, the Broncos’ defense came up big in the second half.
With New England leading 17-10 late in the third quarter, the Patriots regained possession of the ball. Three times, the Broncos forced the Patriots to punt, but twice, the Broncos committed penalties that kept the Patriot offense on the field.
“One of our mottos is, ‘It don’t matter,’” Broncos safety Brian Dawkins said. “It don’t matter where they get the ball at, how many times we’ve got to go back on the field; our job remains the same.

Knowshon Moreno has made an immediate impact on the Denver Broncos’ offense this season.
The first-round pick from Georgia has rushed for 249 yards and has gotten better each week.
The emergence of the Broncos’ other first-round pick has been more gradual. Robert Ayers is making strides, however.
Sunday against Dallas, the rookie from Tennessee registered two tackles, including a 3-yard loss on Cowboys running back Tashard Choice. That forced Dallas to settle for a field goal in the first quarter.
“Today was one of my better performances, and hopefully I can keep building on this one,” Ayers said Sunday.
